RD4 '18: Demons vs Magpies (Conference)

Wandsworth Demons 10.7.67 def Putney Magpies 1.3.9

We kicked off Round 4 of the Conference division against the Putney Magpies, under the lights of Friday night! The top of the table clash was set to be a cracking game. Conor G certainly set the tone early and while he did fade towards the end, it was certainly a performance for the ages, best on ground in my eyes!... But enough of the Epsom Derby and back to the game.

Friday night presented perfect conditions for football and it was the demons who got out the blocks early, banging on 4 goals to Putney’s none. While it was a terrific start on the scoreboard the game was a fierce contest, with both teams evenly matched.

The midfield from start to end were superb, with Chester, H, Ryan, Moore, Davo, Maka, and the Ev man, not only winning the hard ball but applying plenty of pressure when Putney the boys got their hands on it.

While the game always felt like it was in the balance, the demons managed to control each of the quarters. The most pleasing aspect was that everyone contributed. The ever reliable backline held up strong, led by the big boy himself Ki Currie, in what was his best game for the club.

Through the middle it was Chester and G who took the honours and up forward it was Grundy and in his first game Lester were best afield.

A great performance by the boys as the demons ran out 10 goals winners.

Attention now turns to the big Freeze on the C as we take on the London Swans.

Go dees!
