RD5 '18: Demons vs Roos (Men's Social)

Ray Wright | 15.06.18

South London Demons 10.11.71 def Reading Roos 4.7.31

The Super 3's travelled to Reading to take on the undefeated Roos in a game that could determine a top two finish in 2018. We had plenty of changes coming into the match with Adam Laughlan and Braden Earl winning their first club games. The first quarter started well for us with some excellent movement of the footy. Shane Morgan was blistering out of the middle and Jeremy Coombe moved very well up forward on the lead. We got the start we needed to lead at quarter time.

The second quarter again started well for us and we had some excellent contributions from Dragey in the centre and Chris Sharpley out of the back pocket. Skinny was moving well across half forward and Coombesy continued to be a threat. Unfortunately we lost concentration at the end of the quarter and let Reading back in so our lead was tight at half time. We made some changes coming into the third quarter that paid dividends with Adam Picken coming into the ruck and Bresci on ball. Both blokes had a big impact and we broke the dead lock with Reading and kicked away. Young Jackson O'Neill came on and had a good impact scoring a goal and Robbie Dillon gave us plenty moving between the forward line and midfield.

In the last quarter we looked too strong for Reading and our class came through. Webby looked like he was impassable down back, Garry Reilly was tough as nails across half back and every player got the better of their man which saw us run out 40 point winners by the end of the game. It was a big statement to the league that the Demons are finding form at the right time of year. Best players on the day were Shane Morgan, Chris Sharpley, Webby, Coombesy and Robbie Dills.

Next up we've got the Lions in a game that will test us and show where we are truly at in 2018. Bring it on!
