South London Demons 11.10.76 def Ealing Emus 2.3.15

The Super 3s faced their biggest test of the season in round 8, facing off against the Emus in a match that could secure a top 2 finish. After a tough week of selection we came into the game with a solid squad in place and confidence was high. Emus requested a 16 man a side game which we agreed to knowing we had some strong runners in our line up. The first quarter was a good start with hard attack on the footy and positive run giving us the ascendancy. Skinny looked dangerous at Full Forward, Big Susan was dominant in the ruck and Nudge was hard as nails in the guts.

The second quarter saw momentum slip towards the Emus as we lost out focus. A few ill disciplined acts and some loose marking saw the quarter become an arm wrestle. Going into half time we knew that the third quarter would be a decisive one. We got off to a flyer in the third stanza with Matt Casa and Garry Reilly running rampant. The smooth Mark Brescasin was finding plenty of the footy and El Capitan Terry made the most of the space he had on the wing to rack up touches at will. His goal at three quarter time gave the team a real boost towards victory.

The final quarter turned out to be an exhibition as we had run the Emus off their feet. John Dillon's hard leading saw him own the half forward line, Nudge and Casa continued to dominate around the middle and Danny Radis came into his own with excellent hard running and some great tackling. In the end we ran out 10 goal winners on what was a huge day in the context of season 2018 for the team. Well done to all the boys who played and a huge thanks to all those that supported the team.

Best: Nudge, Strelec, Bresci, Casa, John Dills and Terry Unitt.

We march onto the finals as one lads! Bring it on!
