RD10 '18: Demons vs Swans (Men's Conference)

Tony "Whitey" White | 25.07.18

Clapham Demons 14.7.91 def London Swans 5.5.35

The last round of the home and away season saw the Conference boys take on the London Swans at Hackney Marshes.

With a host of changes this week it was a great opportunity for some new faces to put their hand up for selection. The boys started well with big Chester leading the way, giving our midfield first use. We were able to get multiple inside 50’s which had the Swans backman under the pump. To the Swans credit they were putting up a fight but it was the Demons that were able to finish off and hit the score board.

The backline led by Kirby and Harambae (who was reaping the benefits of a night of froths), were able to mark everything that came their way.

In commanding fashion, we went into half time holding a 8 goal lead.

The second half began much like the first with Demons midfield providing multiple opportunities for the demons forwards. Benny Chan was dangerous across half forward and Yeao and Maka were winning plenty of the ball out on the wings.

To the Swans credit they were very competitive in the final term, holding us goalless and hitting the score board themselves.

In the end it was the Demons running out 9 goal winners.

The win capped off a great finish to the home and away season. Full attention now turns to our finals campaign as we head out to Dukes Meadows to take on the Shepherd’s Bush Raiders in the Semi Final.

A terrific effort by the boys to date but the work has only just started. A big week on the track and an even bigger day on Saturday. You beauty!

Best players: Kirby, Harambae, Metcalfe, Charlie Rae
