RD4 '19: Demons vs Wildcats 1s (Men's Conference)

Clapham Demons 1.2.8 def. by West London Wildcats 14.11.95

It was a tough day at the office for the Magoos as we came up against the red hot West London Wildcats. Whilst this game was always going to be challenging, with windy conditions we went into the game thinking we could make it a real contest. Whilst the final score didn’t suggest this, the boys showed real fight to the end, with plenty of positives to take out of the game.

The opening quarter saw a fierce battle in the midfield and we were winning plenty of the  ball. Our tackling pressure was up and we competed really well. Unfortunately this endeavour did not translate into goals, as we were unable to penetrate the cats half backs who repelled each of our entries. The cats are a slick outfit and once the ball got on the outside they were very tough to control.

The second, third and fourth continued in the same vane. We showed unquestionable effort throughout the four quarters but it was ultimately the class of the cats that came to the fore.

The entire backline, led by Izzy and Kiser, had terrific games under enormous pressure. Gia in his first game showed plenty of class and will be a handful for teams to come. And in the midfield it was Chester and Harry Ennis who split the chocolates for best on ground.

When you get done by 13 goals there aren’t too many positives but this was certainly not the case. Plenty to take out the game and build on fellas. All I can say is thank God we don’t need to play those blokes again!!!

We move on to Putney now in a must win game. A big day as well as we say good bye to a couple of the Magoos favourites, the big hoss’s themselves, Jay and Chester. Big day. Yes ploise!
