Round 1 - Conference Womens vs Giants

Matt Sexton | 12.05.22

The morning began with the Demon's convoy crossing the Peckham Rye oval in all their glory. Liz Perri took the responsbility of captain in her stride, a guiding voice that continued off and on the field throughout the day.

We started the game off strong, getting used to the speed and learning our positions. Our new midfield in Shannon, Mackenzie and Chloe showing they were more than up for the challenge. The Giants were an experience side and showed this as the game progressed. At each quarter break we couldnt fault the endeavour with incredible goal saving tackles from the likes of Ciara, Alex, Liz and Faye.

Every single one of the players put their everything into the game and took on the challenge of different positions. Returner Vicky showed she's still got it with an impressive stint in the midfield and around the ground. Huge congratulations to our backline who experienced a significant amount of the ball however ensured not one of the Giant's goals were easy.

Although a tough game, during our post game recap the girls highlighted that almost 3/4 of the team were playing their first game. It was a phenonmenal effort and the coaches were extremely proud. Looking forward to working with the team as the season progresses.

Congratulations to the player's player in Liz Perri, it was a great game and you have set the standard for voice!
