Round 6 - Womens Premiership - Dee's v Giants

Bryce Mulcahy | 24.06.22

Back on the home deck after falling just short in a hard-fought contest in Chiswick against the Wildcats, the Women’s Prems were eager to get back on the winners list against the Giants.

The girls were switched on from the outset and, despite losing Captain and star midfielder Nools to a knee injury in the opening minutes. The rest of the engine room got to work, capitalising on some fantastic tap work from Prip and winning plenty of contested ball out of the middle with Taylah and Chloe linking up well, with Jess C finishing off with a classy kick on the left to hit the scoreboard.

The forward line continued to reap the rewards of the hard work done up the field, with Greta booting not one, but two outstanding goals on the run, with the second surely going to take home the car for goal of the year. Schmidty also hit the scoreboard, playing more like a small forward with two fantastic ground ball gets and snaps in traffic.

The backline was solid as always, repelling any foray forward from the Giants. Setting up the wall perfectly and rebounding with intent and keeping a clean score sheet for the day.

Overall, it was a fantastic four quarter team effort, which was one of the main goals for the week and the scoreboard shows as the girls ran out 53 point winners. A massive congratulations to all the girls who played in their first win with the Prems team: Megi, Annie, Kim, Sarah B and Laura.

The girls have a well earnt rest with a bye next week before the big road trip to Brighton to take on the Sussex Swans the following week.

Wandsworth Demons – 7.11 – 53

South East London Giants – 0.0 - 0
