Rd 9: Demons vs London Swans (Premiership)

Frank 'Frank' Caldow | 14.07.16

Wandsworth Demons 20.18 (138) def. London Swans 3.4 (22)

With the Ladies and Legends event we saw a big crowd down on the common for a cracking day for the club.

Kicking with the breeze the demons started slow, allowing the swans to control the play through the midfield for the early part of the quarter. The ever strong back 6 stuck strong again only letting one goal through despite about 10 inside 50s. The run and carry and transitional play through the defence was a highlight with Tex, Durance and Jet all linking up finding plenty of possession. We got on top towards the back end of the quarter and went in 3 ½ goals up.

2nd quarter saw a much more controlled performance with the Demons getting well on top through controlling possession. Rabbit’s seamless return across half forward was a standout, clunking everything and working well with Tez. Demons went into the main half with a big lead.

3rd quarter and the Swans midfield again controlled the first part of the term before the class of the demons led by Red ready started to get on top of the opposition.

The last quarter was all about the Chris Cooney Show, snagging 3 quality goals to make it 6 for the match. Rouse was again dominate kicking 8, whilst Rabbit and Jet each kicked 3 each. Jet was sensational across the day having over a dozen goal assists which earned him Players Player for the day.

Best: Jet, Durance, Rouse, Cooney, Tez, Drake

Goals: Rouse 7, Cooney 6, Rabbits 3, Jet 3, Dom Chao 1
