Semi Finals: Demons vs West London Wildcats (Premiership)

Ash 'Ash' Walsh | 27.07.16

Wandsworth Demons 8.4 (52) def. by West London Wildcats 9.10 (64)

The Premiership side received a reality check on Saturday, not being able to match it with the polished Wildcats - falling two goals short.

The Demons found themselves wanting last weekend with the Wildcats getting on top and staying there for the majority of the game, with the exception being the final quarter where we out played and out scored the Cats. The first quarter was all the Wildcats until some great junk time goals to Rouse and Cooney brought back the margin to only one goal. The second and third quarters saw the Demons struggle to get their hands on the footy and deliver into the forward line with any purpose, not being able to hit the scoreboard as often as needed to gain back the momentum of the game. The Demons rallied in the last quarter to out play the Cats but the damage was already done and fell two goals short.

Jet worked tirelessly all day constantly presenting up at the footy and creating a spark across the half forward line. Nathan and Sammy Drake were solid down back and if it wasn't for their attack on the footy and defensive pressure the scoreboard would have looked much worse. Matty Goodman worked hard all day and Cooney was the pick of the forwards. The positive is that we were a long way from our best footy and looking forward to a big week on the track leading into the chance to take on the Lions for another shot at the Wildcats in the big dance.

Goals: Cooney 4, Rousey 2, Tez 2
