Demons 13.11 (89) def. Swans 2.0 (12)
The last home and away game for the season saw the conference team take on the London Swans down at Hackney Marshes. In our last hit out before the finals, it presented a great opportunity to fine tune our game as we look to the first week of finals. And more importantly we welcomed back club favourite... Casa! A timely inclusion into the side.
The Dees began slowly in the first term, and to the Swannies credit they had a real crack. The first was a bit of an arm wrestle as we entered quarter time evenly poised.
The second term saw the demons take control, kicking 6 goals to none on the back of great work in the midfield from Will Andrew and Fintan (the oldest and the fastest in the team) and up forward, G, White and Hank were causing headaches for the Swans backline as we all managed to hit the scoreboard.
The start of the second half kicked off in the same manner, with the injection of team captain Mitch Skelly and a nice little right foot snap to kick off proceedings. It was from then on we had control of the game. Mitch continued on his merry way as we record our 6th victory of the year and secured top spot on the ladder with an 11 goal victory.
Special mention to our backline, led by Mangos and Fults, who held strong throughout the day whilst setting up a number of attacks.
Attention now turns to the first semi-final as we take on the Shepherds Bush Raiders this Saturday. It was one a piece in the home and away season, so no doubt we are in for a tight contest. Let's get around each other for a big week on the track and a bigger weekend ahead!
Go Dees!!
Best: Will Andrew, Mangos, Hank, Fintan and G
